Welcome to August! Are you at the point of the summer where you’re wiped from all the activities you’ve already done, or preparing to squeeze every last drop of fun out of the next few weeks? Or do you somehow have the energy to do both?
No matter how you approach the final stretch of summer, we can’t miss that the nights are getting longer and cooler. Our days are getting busier—now we are watering the garden and harvesting from it—and we know the spontaneity of summer is easing closer to the structure and routine of September.
Times of transition call for versatility and Amaranth Designs has classic, timeless, comfortable clothing that moves with Saskatchewan seasons. I design clothes to be worn all kinds of places in all kinds of weather, so you get more wear and better value. And so you don’t have to spend a day mourning the end of summer by moving warm-weather-only clothes to the storage area!
I promise: Cooler weather doesn’t have to mean stiff fabric and constricting waistbands. There are plenty of styles and options of dresses in my collections because they are a perfect go-to choice for every season. I design dresses that work for dinner, the office, and celebrations, but are comfortable enough that you want to wear them all day.
The latest collection has two polka dot numbers that will carry you through whatever August has in store, then take you straight through the fall. This fit and flare option is swingy and casual, perfect for wedding showers and backyard barbecues, and for easing back into Mondays: https://amaranthdesigns.ca/collections/all/products/navy-polka-dot-fit-flare-dress. Or if you’re into a slimmer fit or more arm coverage, this flounce sleeve option goes from office chic to weekend errands in a snap: https://amaranthdesigns.ca/collections/all/products/navy-polka-dot-flounce-sleeve-dress.
You deserve to look great and feel comfortable, so it’s worth a browse of all the dresses I have available, including a few formal options and some great sales on pieces from past collections. https://amaranthdesigns.ca/collections/dresses
Of course, not everyone buys into my love of dresses—but that doesn’t mean you’re missing out on the versatility of Amaranth Designs!
Over the next couple of months, layering will be the name of the game with hot days bracketed by cool mornings and evenings. Start with one of our tanks (https://amaranthdesigns.ca/collections/tanks has options in neutrals, prints, solids, and colour) and then toss on the right layer for your occasion. From ponchos to blazers and cardigans that work almost anywhere, the outwear section has you covered (literally!): https://amaranthdesigns.ca/collections/outerwear. Add your favourite jeans, leggings, or dress pants and you’re ready for whatever the forecast promises…or threatens.
All my designs start with the best fabric; they feel great against your skin, don’t constrict or pinch, won’t pill or wrinkle, and look gorgeous straight out of the closet. That comfort is always a plus, but it’s especially perfect for August, whether you’re casually checking for signs of fall or hanging on to summer as tight as you can!
You can check out that comfort in person at Brick + Mortar in Regina (seriously, the fabric is so nice to touch), or get the best selection in my online store: https://amaranthdesigns.ca/collections/all. Happy summer shopping!

It’s once again Mental Health Week here in Canada (May 2-8), and I am doing my part to spread the message and support some of the folks doing the work right here at home.
This is the third year for the Amaranth Designs Annual Heart Sweater Charity Campaign, and we are once again supporting the work of Family Service Regina.

My 2022 Spring/Summer collection is here to make the transition to your warm weather wardrobe smoother and more reliable than whatever is happening outside. I want to help you embody the meaning of breezy, so you appear and feel relaxed and “cheerily pleasant.” The collection is a perfect way to do that, from the fit and the colours to the way these pieces can complement what you already own.
