I know, I know! It feels strange to be talking about the holiday season already, but it’s coming up quickly. This year Hannukah starts in just a few weeks, and it’s only seven weeks until most school holidays start. I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t want to be doing my last-minute shopping when the malls are packed. So, consider this newsletter a bonus service that will help you have a better 2021 holiday. You’re welcome.
The push to shop local was strong in 2020, and I’d love to see that same energy this year. Small, local businesses keep your dollars in our community, and we truly appreciate every purchase. Your gift purchases allow us to make our own, so our families and friends appreciate your purchases, too!
You may not think of apparel when making your shopping list, but I’m here to tell you that there are some fantastic gift options available from Amaranth Designs.
I guarantee there is someone on your list who wishes they had more clothes with pockets, and I’m definitely here to serve on that front. From dresses and jackets to hoodies and vests—give the gift of stylish storage in 2021. There are even some sale options in there, but sizes are limited so start shopping soon!
Sweaters also make a classic holiday gift, and we have loads of items that fall under the sweater umbrella: tunics, ponchos, hoodies (or bunnyhugs for those who still love that term), cardigans, and a good ol’ sweater. Part of the reason the sweater shines as a gift (especially when it’s an Amaranth Designs sweater) is that it’s got a forgiving fit, so sizing is less of a worry. As usual, there is a range of styles, colours, and patterns available; there truly is something for everyone—including those who love to get into the spirit with a holiday sweater. I have four designs from the subtle to the bold, and they’re the perfect excuse to spend several days wearing leggings to make room for all that delicious holiday food.
Some folks avoid buying clothes as a gift because they are afraid of buying the wrong size. Size guides are helpful, but if you still need some idea of their measurements to use them. This is where accessories really shine, and I have the perfect option: the obi wrap belt. There is plenty of length in it to wrap and tie, so you don’t have to fret about it fitting. It comes in three colours so you can work with any colour palette. And like so much of what I create, it can transition from casual wear to the office or even a night out. Versatility is a perfect gift!
Of course, gift cards are always an option. They’re great for avoiding the wrong size, colour, or style—and they’re perfect for that friend who complements your outfit whenever you wear one of your Amaranth Design pieces so they can start building their own collection.
While you’re planning your local shopping for this season, I have a few ways you can potentially support several small businesses in one place. I’ll be at two in-person craft shows in November: Regina on November 11-13, and The Christmas Spirit Tradeshow in Swift Current on November 20th 10-5pm. There are so many cool vendors there that you could easily finish your small biz shopping in one trip (without worrying about shipping times!) and have the chance to get your hands on my fabulous-feeling designs. So soft! And of course, I have stock at Brick + Mortar in Regina year-round, alongside a bunch of other wonderful small businesses.
We always need more reasons to celebrate, so add National Entrepreneurs’ Day (November 19) and Small Business Saturday (November 27) to your calendar and shop local this holiday season!

That consistency in sizing is even more important in the age of online shopping. There’s nothing quite as frustrating as spending all that time browsing and then waiting for a piece to arrive, only for it to completely disappoint when you put it on.
