WHAT’S MORE IMPORTANT: PRICE OR VALUE?

WHAT’S MORE IMPORTANT: PRICE OR VALUE?

Welcome to 2022! The new calendar is a perfect opportunity for a fresh outlook, so this January I want to talk a bit about value and what that means in your wardrobe.

I’ve mentioned plenty of times that I design my pieces to be classic and timeless, that I want every Amaranth Design piece to last for years. To make that happen, I start with quality fabrics, fabrics that look and feel amazing. But it takes more than good fabric to have good clothes. To create comfortable pieces that can go through the wash multiple times and still hold their shape, I put my 20-plus years’ experience to work. Each piece is created with care and dedication, so every seam is solid, and the construction will hold up to years of wear. I also take the time to cut patterns carefully and make the most of every bolt of fabric.

That combination of quality fabrics and careful construction is what creates pieces that last. This isn’t fast fashion, where slabs of fabric are cut with jigsaws and then sewn as quickly as possible. Which means you aren’t paying fast fashion prices either.

With Amaranth Designs, you get value for your money. The initial price will be higher than what you can pick up at chain fashion retailers, but when you buy from me you get pieces look better for longer. You can rest assured that it will hang the same after six months of washing and wearing as it did when you tried it on. It makes getting dressed the easiest part of your day. You don’t have to worry about holes sprouting in the armpits as seams disintegrate, or hems that unravel after one wear.

I stick with classic shapes because my pieces will still be around when the trends fade. If it’s going to last for years, I want it to have a place in your everyday wardrobe. You can dress in Amaranth designs across seasons and to plenty of occasions, so the price per wear might even be lower than for fast fashion pieces.

And there’s something to be said for the value of supporting a local business owner who has honed her skills over more than 20 years of constructing and adjusting garments. I am just as excited about every purchase as my customers are because I love every piece I make. I reinvest in supporting my fellow small business owners whenever I can, so your dollars are staying local too.

So, as we start a new year, I want to say a big thank you to all of you who’ve already recognized the value in my pieces. Your support allows me to keep creating new (and if I may say, gorgeous) pieces to help women start their day feeling their very best—and not end them worried about when they’re going to get to the drycleaners next! As always, you can find the latest available designs on my website, or in Regina at Brick + Mortar.

All the best to you in 2022!

That consistency in sizing is even more important in the age of online shopping. There’s nothing quite as frustrating as spending all that time browsing and then waiting for a piece to arrive, only for it to completely disappoint when you put it on.

One of the biggest complaints in fashion today, especially women’s fashion, is how inconsistent sizing can be. Though there is a call to standardize clothing sizes, something tells me it’s going to be a long time before we get there. Vanity sizing has been shifting what classifies as small, medium, or large (or size 10, 12, etc.) for decades, and those ad hoc sizes are emotionally loaded for a lot of shoppers.

Versatility is one of my top design considerations. When I am creating pieces, I want you to be able to wear them anywhere and in all seasons. Amaranth Designs clothing can be dressed up or down, which means your comfortable vacation clothes also look fantastic at the office—which makes it a little easier to pretend you’re on a sunny beach instead of at a desk next to the window, right?
