Upcoming Fashion Event: Saskatchewan Fashion Week
I love this time of the year. The weather is getting warmer and Saskatchewan Fashion Week is coming up. This event creates so much buzz around local Saskatchewan fashion designers. Saskatchewan Fashion Week is in its fifth year; it will feature creations by designers from Regina, Saskatoon, Punnichy, and Toronto. A diverse collection of fashions, from both emerging and established designers, will hit the runway in Regina May 12 to 14, 2016. I would highly recommend checking this event out, if you have not done so before.
Although Amaranth Designs is not participating this year, we have participated in the past three years, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Here is a shot of the front page of the Leader-Post with Amaranth Designs’ car coat – my first year participating!
Following this exposure, I became more serious about creating seasonal collections. My primary focus prior to this had been custom design. I expanded my focus to include Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter collections. My first “Look Book” was created for 2014’s Spring/Summer line. I have since completed six collections.
Where does inspiration come from for each collection? A designer’s inspiration can come from anywhere; be it from architecture, a painting, or travel, the creative fashion minds are always at work thinking of their next collection.
I really hope that you get to check out some local Saskatchewan designers this week at Saskatchewan Fashion Week. If you’re interested in seeing any of my collections or want to wear one of my pieces to the show, feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org . I have a limited selection of designs presently available for purchase in my studio. Some of the designs from our 2016 Spring/Summer Soft & Subtle collection are currently available at Havik in Regina, Sister’s Boutique in Montmartre and Styles in Gravelbourg.
